Calico vs Non Woven bags.  Which type are waterproof?  The answer is non woven bags.  These bags are essentially made from strands of plastic which are woven into a fabric like appearance.  Calico bags on the other hand is essentially untreated cotton.  Therefore like a shirt it would absorb water.

Non woven Bags are generally splash proof however we definitely do not recomend them to be soaked in water.  So if you do have an outdoor conference and you are unsure if it may rain or not please consider non woven bags instead as it may protect your prescious pamphlets and contents for your event!

Top 5 Things to Do with An Unwanted Calico Bag

For whatever reason you choose not to want to use a Calico bag.  Perhaps its getting a bit old, or that it has lost its shape!  Or maybe you have simply found a better bag and have replaced your trusty old calico bag well here are some top things to do with them to not just only make them useful but also to extend their use to be kind to the environment.

Here goes the list for TOP 5 Things to Do with an Old Calico Bag!
1)  Clean it in the washing machine!  You may want to use it again once its clean and it may even take on a different vintage character after the wash to make it appealing again!

2)  Cut into pieces to be used to mop up things like spills

3)  Cleaned and cut into smaller pieces as a coffee filter!

4)  As a base for pot plants!  They breath air which makes them fantastic for plants

5)  Use them to store potatoes, rice, mushrooms and any other food that require cool dark storage with good breathing air flow!

Its good to recycle and calico bags are the perfect product being made from natural cotton.  Minimize waste and the earth will smile back at you!

Why Calico Bags Are Eco Friendly

Calico bags are terrific products when used in conferences.  They are attractive and have a large branding area.  After the initial event they can and are re-used which makes them eco friendly too.

But what happens to them if in several years time they are disposed of?  Well disposing things are never good on the environment.  However the advantage of disposing calico bags is because it is a natural cotton fibre the damage is minimized.  Why?  You see cotton is a naturally biodegradable material.  Once disposed of over time it will break down naturally in the environment and will find itself disintegrating.  No harmful toxins will leak into land fill with the exception of the water soluble ink that is both small in quantity to begin with and will also disintegrate over time.  This makes Calico bags very environmentally friendly and definitely a worthwhile addition to your next conference event.
